There is a reason why they say it's longly at the top. It takes a different kind of mindset to be the elite amongst the elite.
“It's an uphill road for those who can embrace their defeats, but at the end is the top. So climb your mountain and take your position.”
It takes a different kind of mindset to be the elite amongst the elite. There are two kinds of mindsets, the growth mindset, and the closed mindset. One sees failure as an opportunity, while the other sees failure as an identity. What's your Mindset?
The Closed and Growth Mindsets
It's all good when things are going well, but what about when it doesn't? Will you rise within the circumstances or will you fold up and quit? There's a reason why they say it's lonely at the top, because not only must we be willing to go beyond where most won't, we must be willing to embrace our failures. And this is where most people quit. This is where they throw in the towel because they don't understand. There is a fundamental principle at work. Failing is a prerequisite to greatness. Takes a whole different kind of mindset to be the elite amongst the elite, to be top dog of the top dogs.
There are two kinds of mindsets, the growth mindset, and the closed mindset. Now one sees failure as an opportunity, while the other sees failure as an identity. So here is a question for you. What's your mindset? Do you avoid challenges ar are you the type that likes to quit as soon as you realize you can't win? Or, in the midst of your defeats, are you willing to take a cold, hard, and honest look at what you need to fix?
Ask anyone who is winning today if they have lost in the past, and I promise you, they have been some losses they've experienced, some that probably would have taken you out. But only the greatest depths can lead to the highest heights. Failure is not an identity. It is a momentary point in time that if looked at in the right light, you could harness its power.
Do me a favor. The next time you lose, get pissed off. We are champions, it's in our DNA. We don't like to lose. But don't let that anger blind you from the adjustments you need to make. So you can come back stronger, harder, and more deliberate than you did the last time.
It's an uphill road for those who can embrace their defeats, but at the end is the top. So climb your mountain and take your position.
